COVID-19 RESOURCES

Equal Ground is committed to supporting our community through this difficult unknown time and global pandemic. The safety and security of the residents we serve is our first priority and we have comprised a list of resources for the Orange, Seminole, Volusia, and Pinellas counties that could provide some relief during this time. We are updating this site daily to provide the most accurate information, so please check back daily.

ORANGE

Resources for Rent and Utility Assistance 

  • United Way - Grants or loans from EEG can help those with an eviction notice or the currently homeless. Emergency rental assistance and case management is available. The goal is to help people gain housing stability.

  • Catholic Charities of Central Florida - They offer Family Assistance, help for paying rent or basic utilities and other aid. All services are by appointment only.

  • Christian Services of Orange County and Central Florida - Housing programs are available, including rent or mortgage assistance. They may also coordinate shelters and meals. Some low-income families may be provided a loan to pay any back rent expenses due.

  • Jewish Family Services - They may be able to provide no-interest loans and financing for housing needs, including rent or deposits. Clients will be enrolled in self-sufficiency as well.

  • American Red Cross - Can help with disasters. This will be for people impacted by fires, floods, hurricanes and more. They also partner with other groups and charities, such as the Salvation Army. Shelters, food, and basic needs can be met.

  • Orlando Housing Authority - Information on government-subsidized housing, HUD vouchers, and home buying programs.

  • Orange County Miracle of Love - They run the Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS, or H.O.P.W.A.. There may be grants for low-income people with HIV or AIDS. Funds can help with rent/mortgage/utilities or other housing assistance. 

 

Food and Grocery Resources 

  • Grab-n-Go Meals for Students - Grab-and-Go meals will be available for pick-up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the car loop of each school site. Students must be present to receive the meals. District staff will distribute the meals directly to those in their vehicle (drive-thru service). Meals will be given directly to any students walking and/or riding a bike. Based on recommendations from our federal and state leaders, all meals should be taken home to eat.

Legal

Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association - Free legal aid and support can be provided for civil issues. This includes to help prevent evictions, deal with unsafe housing, or contest security deposit disputes. Landlord/Tenant Dispute Resolution or mediation may be offered too.

  • Testing - Drive-thru test site at the Orange County Convention Center. The site opens daily at 9:00 a.m. and will remain open until 5:00 p.m. or until 250 individuals have been swabbed. Testing will be available ONLY for first responders, healthcare workers and symptomatic individuals age 65 and older.
