Greetings,
When I founded Equal Ground in May 2019, my goal was to create a political home for Black Floridians that prioritized and celebrated our core values and contributions to the political process. However, I could not have anticipated the monumental battle we would face – the unprecedented assault on the very foundation of our nation. Florida has emerged as the epicenter of fascist
ideologies, spearheading the nationwide erasure of Black history, culture, diversity, equality, and inclusion. Equal Ground has been on the frontlines calling out hate and calling in a community rooted in deep faith and resilience. Equal Ground is committed to being an organization that builds Black political power for future generations to come.
As a native Floridian, I am driven to expand my responsibilities and impact within the state by taking on the most challenging task yet. It is with great honor that I share I will be stepping down from my role as Director of Equal Ground Education Fund and Equal Ground Action Fund to become the Florida State Director of the Joe Biden for President Campaign. It has been a privilege to found and serve this organization working alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals and partners throughout Florida. I look forward to maintaining my role as a member of the Equal Ground board throughout this year and reconnecting with you after the 2024 election season.
I am excited to announce that our Political Director Genesis Robinson has been promoted to Interim Executive Director effective immediately. Genesis brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and a deep commitment to our mission, and I am confident that the organization will continue to thrive under his leadership.
I want to express my gratitude to the board, staff, volunteers, partners and supporters of Equal Ground for their unwavering support during my time here. I am proud of all that we have accomplished together, and I look forward to seeing the organization reach new heights in the future as the organization celebrates it’s five year anniversary in May!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Director. I am excited for this next chapter and am grateful for the memories and relationships I have formed here and I look forward to connecting with each of you in this new role.
