Leading Black FL Voting Rights Org Reacts to Trump’s First 100 Days & Assault on Black Floridians

FLORIDA — Since Inauguration Day, the Trump administration has attacked Voting Rights, Civil Rights, Education, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), Healthcare, the Economy, Housing & Urban Development, Immigration, Environmental Justice, and the Legal System, under the guise of governance. These actions are not merely policy shifts, they are designed to roll back decades of hard-fought progress.

In his first 100 days back in office, Donald Trump has launched an unprecedented assault on American democracy, and Black communities are among the hardest hit. With more than 100 executive actions, policy changes, and rollbacks, Trump’s administration is not just dismantling democratic norms; it is actively deepening systemic racial inequities across the board,” said Equal Ground Executive Director Genesis Robinson.

Through executive orders, agency rollbacks, funding cuts, and regulatory changes, the Trump administration has stripped away equity-centered protections, restricted access to vital resources, and deepened systemic disparities. Whether through making it harder to vote, defunding civil rights offices, targeting DEI initiatives, gutting healthcare protections, attacking environmental safeguards, or limiting legal avenues for justice, this is a full-scale retreat from the American promise.

These first 100 days have laid bare an unmistakable truth: when government retreats from equity, Black Americans bear the heaviest burden. But our communities are not powerless, continued Robinson. “We refuse to be silent while our rights, our opportunities, and our dignity are stripped away. We believe the real stories of everyday people, stories of struggle, resilience, and hope, must be lifted up not only to shed light on the true human cost of these policies but to inspire a deeper commitment to the fight ahead.

“By sharing these truths, we can show the nation both the impact of this attack on democracy and the future we must work toward. The attack on democracy is an attack on all of us, and we owe it to ourselves, to our communities, and to our country to fight back.”
