JACKSONVILLE – Tomorrow night, October 6 at 6:30pm, the leading plaintiffs in the redistricting lawsuit fighting back against Gov. Ron DeSantis’ unconstitutional maps will make their next stop on the ‘We Draw The Lines’ statewide tour in Jacksonville.

The stop in Jacksonville will highlight two of the congressional districts included in the ongoing redistricting litigation – Congressional Districts 4 and 5. The new DeSantis-drawn maps that have been approved by the Legislature and forced into place have resulted in unlawful diminishment.

Over the past several weeks, fellow plaintiffs in the case, including Equal Ground, Florida Rising, League of Women Voters of Florida, and Black Voters Matter have teamed up to educate, mobilize, and galvanize Black voters in multiple counties around the need for fair representation.

Tomorrow night, the leading plaintiffs will provide attendees with a presentation that will dive into the history of the districts, as well as examine the former congressional map and the map in question. Additionally, these groups will update attendees on the current legal redistricting landscape, as well as inform everyone about critical election law changes including new changes to voting by mail, and looming deadlines for the November midterms.

The ‘We Draw The Lines’ tour is focused on education and highlighting racial equity to ensure that Florida’s Black population is truly represented and that state lawmakers are responsive to the needs of their communities.
