ree

Why this coalition space is needed / role

  • A fellowship of clergy and faith leaders who believe that civic engagement is an expression of moral responsibility. This group provides spiritual grounding for democratic participation, reminding communities that justice, dignity, and love are at the heart of our shared future.

Important Data

  • 80% of historically Black churches encourage members to take part in social justice/political action (Pew, 2021).

  • Faith leaders are rated among the most trusted community figures (Pew, PRRI).

  • “The church is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscience of the state.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

How we work together (Deliverables)

  • Increase the number of churches committing clergy and congregations to Souls to the Polls programs.

  • Conversations around potentials of 501c3

  • Mobilize emails to legislators requesting local town halls in Black communities.
