Equal Ground, electeds & partners to sound the alarm on Amendment 3's dangers for Black communities, join No on 3 coalition to mobilize Black Floridians ahead of Election Day

MIAMI – On Friday, September 25th, Equal Ground – the preeminent Black-led, non-partisan, non-profit working to build Black political power in Florida – will bring together elected officials, faith leaders, and community members for a press conference to sound the alarm on the direct impacts of Amendment 3 on Black Floridians and join the Save Our Services – No on 3 coalition.

With Floridians reeling from an affordability crisis – struggling with rising housing, insurance, grocery, and utility costs – Amendment 3 would threaten essential services Florida’s communities rely on every day, deepening the burden on families already stretched thin. Fire and emergency response, roads, libraries, parks, health services, and hurricane preparedness would all see their funding from local revenue reduced.

Relief should not come at the expense of the essential services communities depend on every day. Black Florida leaders and electeds will be joining the Save Our Services – No on 3 coalition to directly engage Black communities across the state, informing Black Floridians on the threat Amendment 3 poses to critical services and mobilizing voters to the polls ahead of Election Day.

Friday’s press conference will include remarks from Florida electeds and community leaders, including Equal Ground Executive Director Genesis Robinson, Commissioner Oliver Gilbert, Councilwoman Trina Wilborn, and State Senator Shevrin Jones (District 34), as well as impacted Floridians, including First Responder Bernard Taylor and Miami resident Merline Merle Malcom.
