PRESSER: Black Florida Voting Rights Leaders & Advocates to Demand Byron Donalds Break Silence on FL Voting Rights Act

Advocates will call on Donalds to take a stance on legislation central to the voting rights and representation of his constituents

VIRTUAL – On Wednesday, August 26th, Equal Ground – the preeminent Black-led, non-partisan, non-profit working to build Black political power in Florida – alongside leading Florida voting rights advocates will hold a press conference demanding that Republican Gubernatorial nominee Byron Donalds clearly state his stance on the Florida Voting Rights Act and pledge his support to protecting voting rights and representation of Floridians. 

During the press call, Black Florida voting rights leaders and advocates will call on Donalds to break his silence. After years of dismantled voting rights and access under the DeSantis administration, Florida's voters – especially communities of color – deserve to know where a candidate to be their next Governor stands on strengthening voting rights and expanding ballot access before they head to the polls in November.

On July 2nd, Equal Ground sent a detailed letter to Florida's gubernatorial candidates asking them to clearly state their position on the Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Florida Voting Rights Act legislation. Byron Donalds has remained silent.
