Former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder & NAACP National General Counsel to Sound Alarm on FL Redistricting on Major Mobilizing Call w/ Black Floridians 

FLORIDA – On Monday, April 20, Equal Ground – the preeminent Black-led, non-partisan, non-profit working to build Black political power in Florida – will host a virtual Florida Black Political Empowerment Call headlined by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and NAACP General Counsel Kristen Clarke to lay out the very real impacts of Florida’s redistricting effort and its implications for the political power for Florida’s communities. 

On the heels of Governor DeSantis and Florida lawmakers delaying the state’s special session, originally scheduled to begin today, Equal Ground is bringing advocates together from across the state to mobilize communities around the mid-decade redistricting effort. The mobilization comes as Florida lawmakers are set to take up the unprecedented effort in special session – an effort that threatens to further dilute the political power of our communities, undermines fair representation, and raises serious concerns about compliance with the Florida Constitution.

With Florida as the next battleground in the nationwide redistricting fight, national leaders will headline tonight's call to mobilize communities of color by laying out what is at stake for Black Floridians in this redistricting fight and how the effort will disenfranchise voters, particularly Black and brown Floridians.
