Maxwell Frost, LaVon Bracy Davis & Equal Ground to Hold Orlando Community Town Hall on Direct Impacts of Trump's Big, Ugly Bill

Electeds and community leaders will break down local and statewide impacts of recent legislative action for Orlando community members

ORLANDO — On Friday, July 11, Equal Ground – the preeminent Black-led, non-partisan, non-profit working to build Black political power in Florida – will join U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost and State Representative LaVon Bracy Davis for a community town hall highlighting the direct impacts of recent federal and state legislative actions.

The town hall will dive into Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill (now law) that could cause Florida to lose over $54 billion in federal funding – over half its budget, threatening the survival of schools, hospitals, and critical public services – and strip healthcare from 1.4 million Floridians. Leaders will also lay out the actions from the recent state legislative session that have left communities facing increased threats to their health, safety, education, healthcare facilities, and public services.

For Floridians, there is no relief. Communities are now left sandwiched between federal and state government attacks on their rights and the erosion of the very institutions meant to serve them.

During the town hall, Equal Ground and Orlando’s elected leaders, US Rep. Maxwell Frost, and State Rep. LaVon Bracy Davis, will discuss these recent legislative decisions – including threats to Florida’s immigrant communities as Trump’s bill supercharges immigration enforcement and funnels billions into ICE – as well as answer any questions community members may have about the impacts to their lives and neighbors.
