Equal Ground and Clergy Day at the Capitol will take place on February 6th -7th, 2024 in Tallahassee, FL. This will be an opportunity to commune with other community leaders, meet with legislators around important issues in person and participate in other advocacy activities.

 

This two-day trip will consist of meetings with Florida legislators, an opportunity to attend and speak at committee hearings as well as meet Florida organizations working to fight to protect some key issues like criminal justice, education, voting rights and the environment. 

 

There will be an opening reception and training on Tuesday, February 6th at 6pm-8pm

 

  • If hotel accommodations are needed a room block for your room reservation will be made available. Please note, at this time it will be the responsibility of each person attending to reserve and pay for their hotel accommodations.

  • We have contracted a discounted rate at the Indigo Hotel until January 29th for February 6-7th. To make your reservation please click HERE (you must enter the corresponding event dates to receive the discounted rate) or call US phone (877) 846-3446

  •  We understand that some schedules may not permit a multi-day trip and therefore you’re able to travel independently to Tallahassee to join the lobby day. 


 

There will be breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks will be provided on Wednesday, February 7th. An email with all day of logistics will be provided once your participation is confirmed and you’ve met all requirements.

Important notes

 

  • One requirement to participate in EG Day at the Capital is your participation in the Equal Ground Take the Lead: Black Leadership Training Series. This will took place virtually on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 and is available for you to view here https://equalground.thinkific.com/courses/2023takethelead.  You understand you must participate in Equal Ground's Take the Lead training prior to Equal Ground Day at the Capitol.

  • We would like to confirm all attendance for the trip no later than Wednesday, January 31st, 2024

  • We encourage you to attend our Black Political Empowerment Call, on January 22 to get any questions answered and to get an overview of the event. Click HERE to RSVP.

  • Suggested attire is business casual with comfortable shoes. Weather is expected to be cool or cold so prepare to dress in layers

  • Parking can be located at Klemon Plaza 306 S Duval St, Tallahassee, FL 32301 is the best parking location. There is a parking fee associated with this parking garage
